You may think that recording TV is no longer a necessity with catch-up TV however being able to record your favourite programmes keeps you firmly in control.  You won’t find the next episode of that exciting drama disappearing just as you get to the juicy bit and you can keep a much-loved favourite on your recorder for years.  Here at Butlers Rentals we have a fantastic range of rental recorders to choose from.

What features can you look out for?

Multi-Recordings

Most recorders give you two or more receivers and as Christmas is looming you’ll be able to enjoy all those wonderful Christmas specials well into the New Year.

Hard-Drive Digital Recorders

This version of a recorder records into a hard disc drive and provide an excellent quality picture.  They are simple to use and index each recording on the disc.  You can select your programme from the electronic programme guide (EPG) and search recordings easily.  It does have a maximum capacity so check out its disc space.

DVD digital TV recorder

You can also choose a DVD recorder which has a digital TV tuner built in.  This records one programme whilst you watch another.  This style of recorder records onto DVD and you will enjoy a good quality picture.  Again programmes are indexed for easy searching.

If you need advice on choosing a TV recorder in time for the Christmas holidays speak to one of the team at Butlers Rentals on 01244 822144 to find out more.

The Christmas season is upon us and if you love to gather friends and family for a festive feast or you are a lover of Christmas baking then now is the time to update your oven with a shiny new rental appliance.  Here at Butlers Rentals we have a great range of top branded appliances to choose from.  If you are looking to update your oven read our tips on choosing the perfect model for you:

The right size

Before you start looking for your new oven get your tape measure out!  Always check the size of the space you have available for a cooker or oven.  You’ll also need space for good ventilation.  Speak to one of our team to find out all the dimensions you need when choosing your new rental appliance.

Capacity

We measure the capacity of an oven in litres and you’ll be able to judge the perfect size of your oven by considering how much food you generally cook at the same time.  If you go for a larger oven it will give you more scope for times such as Christmas when you may be cooking for more people than usual.  It will also be a great help if you love baking or you have a big family.

Cleaning

Cleaning the oven has to be one of the least-loved jobs in the house!  Luckily most oven manufacturers know this and have developed cleaning systems.  Choose wisely and you can enjoy more cooking and use less elbow grease!

If you are looking to update your oven contact us at Butlers Rentals on 01244 822144.  We can give you expert advice and ensure you get the perfect oven for a perfect Christmas dinner!

Stainless steel appliances look sleek and sophisticated fresh from the showroom but the everyday grime of life can take the shine off your new rental appliance.  Whether its sticky fingerprints or the remnants of your latest culinary creation you need to know how to get your appliance looking its best.  Always check your information booklet as stainless steel comes in different grades and forms.  Here are some general tips for getting the shine back:

Gentle Cleaning

When choosing a cloth to clean your appliance use something gentle and soft such as a microfibre cloth.  Never use steel wool or abrasive scrubbing sponges.  A soft microfibre cloth will soak up all the water and ensure you don’t scratch your appliance.

Clean Towards the Grain

In the same way you would go with the grain on a wooden piece of furniture, you’ll need to clean in the direction of the steel grain.  Going against the grain highlights any marks and it’s easier to scratch your appliance.

Water, Water

Unless the appliance is extremely soiled water can be the best option.  Warm water and a soft cloth can work wonders.  Simply dry off the surface with kitchen towel or a microfibre cloth for a perfect shine.

Other Cleaning Solutions

If water fails, there are a range of cheaper options to go for.  Vinegar is a fantastic cleaning product either mixed with water or undiluted.  Washing up liquid can also be a great option and often removes even the most tenacious of stains.

If you have a stainless steel sink, then try some baking soda.  Sprinkle two teaspoons around the sink and using a damp cloth rub the dry baking soda in.  spray vinegar over the top and leave to work its magic for 10 minutes or so.

With care and attention, you can have a stunning stainless steel appliance that is the envy of all your friends and family.  For news on our latest deals at Butlers Rentals visit our store or contact us on 01244 822144.

At this time of year, you may well have had friends and family over for some hearty seasonal food while you watch the fireworks.  If you’ve found your cooker is lacking the cooking power you need, and with Christmas beckoning, we have the perfect guide on the different kitchen hobs available at Butlers Rentals.

Finding a Good Quality hob

When it comes to creating your favourite dishes a good quality kitchen hob is essential.  An electric hob is straight forward to keep pristine and will be the perfect addition to a stylish kitchen.  An induction hob takes no time to heat up and are a good choice if you have children and safety is important to you.

Ceramic hobs

These sleek hobs have a smart glass finish and will complement any chic kitchen.  Most models sport handy dial controls which enable you to select the accurate temperature for your culinary creations.  Once you have served up your latest masterpiece, the hob can be quickly wiped clean.

Induction hobs

An induction hob has electromagnets tucked away beneath the hob which cleverly heat up when an induction-friendly pan is placed on it.  Rather than heating up the hob itself, the induction hob heats only the contents of the pan.  This hob is exceptionally safe and will heat up your food quickly.  Different models have different functionalities such as boost modes for intense cooking or restart buttons so you can pause cooking to answer the door to your guests.

If you want to update your cooker contact us at Butlers Rentals to find out about our latest range of cookers to rent.

Autumn is definitely here with wet and blustery weather.  This is the time of year we find our customers start to use their tumble dryer with gusto.  To keep your rental tumble dryer working to full capacity we, at Butlers Rentals, are always on hand with our quick and professional repair service.

However, by following a few simple steps you can avoid the unsightly scene of drying washing hanging limply all over the house.  Follow our tips for a stress-free autumn:

Vented and condenser dryers:

Access the fluff filter and remove any trapped debris.  This can usually be located at the front of your appliance, just inside the door.  Use a vacuum cleaner nozzle to get rid of any fluff in the filter cavity.

Condenser dryers only:

With condenser dryers you will need to clean away fluff from the heat exchanger.  This is usually at the front of the machine.  For a thorough clean take the unit out and run under the tap on a monthly basis as a minimum.

Most condenser dryers collect condensed water in a container and will not function if this is full.  Regularly check and empty the container.

Other tips:

A tumble dryer will be much more effective when not overloaded.  The clothes need room to move in the drum.  If your washing machine has an 8kg capacity but your tumble dryer has only an 6kg capacity you may be overloading your tumble dryer.

Every appliance has its own specific maintenance instructions so download the relevant user manual for your appliance.  Remember we are always on hand to advise you on the latest tumble dryers in our range or to repair an appliance that has stopped working.  Contact us on 01244 822144 to speak to one of our helpful team.

Do you know the right amount of detergent to use in your wash?  Would you check the instructions on the detergent package?  Do you think about the degree of soiling or the water hardness?  Do you consider the amount of laundry, the machine dimensions or the types of textiles you are washing?

If you answered no to some or all of those questions you wouldn’t be alone.  According to BSH consumer research up to 90% of people do not consider all the factors when putting washing detergent into their appliance.

Is getting it wrong so bad?  Experts argue that it is.

Too much detergent can leave residue on clothing causing skin irritations and allergies.  It causes higher energy and water consumption leading to environmental implications.

Too little leads to poor washing results with stains being ‘burnt in’ and clothing becoming discoloured with that grey, shabby look.  It can even leave bad odours.

i-Dos Technology

The i-Dos Intelligent Dosing System can resolve all these issues.  This clever technology allows you to dose correctly to the nearest millilitre as it adjusts automatically according to a variety of parameters.  This easy to use system makes detergent and water savings allowing you to practice sustainability.

BSH claims that automatic dosing with i-Dos can create a potential average yearly water saving of 7062 litres of water which is the equivalent of 39 full baths. The company also claim it is also possible to save up to 11 litres of detergent over a 12-month period which can equate to a saving of £60 per year.

There has been a huge amount in the press recently about changes in the environment and how everyone can help reduce global warming by making changes to their lifestyles.  One of the biggest worries is the impact of water shortages as our consumption of this natural resource continues to grow.  In the UK agricultural groundwater levels are declining and this could lead to higher food prices and possible food shortages for the UK consumer in the short term.  In the long term the predicted impact of global warming paints a bleak picture.

Intelligent Water Management in Washing Machines

At the recent Global Climate Action Summit an action plan was presented that focussed not only on large industries becoming more environmentally-friendly but also offered recommendations for everyone.  The message was strong and clear – if everyone makes small changes the impact will be significant.

With that in mind there have been technological developments in washing machines which drastically cut down on the amount of water used in the washing cycle.  Bosch, Siemens and Neff offer washing machines with ActiveWater™ for Laundry which ensures not a single drop of water too much is used in the washing cycle.

These big names claim that, by swapping an 8 year old washing machine for a new appliance with this innovative water management technology, over 5 years, you could save enough water for 173 washes.  As well as helping to protect our planet, this water saving can only reduce your monthly outgoings if you have a water meter.

Let’s talk about socks…on the stairs, in the washing basket, under the bed…but not in the washing machine!  It is an age-old mystery.  Just how do socks manage to escape on their way to the washing machine?  If you are fed up with finding odd socks on the stairs, then the latest in washing machine technology could solve everything!

Dropped Something…Simply RELOAD!

With cutting edge technology you can simply pause the washing machine programme, pop your rogue socks into the drum and then restart the wash.  So simple, but how much easier would that make life?

The RELOAD technology is available with the Bosch, Siemens and Neff washing machine models and works with all cleaning programmes*.  What’s more it can be activated in some cases up to 89% into the wash cycle.

There are no restrictions on the size of the item you can add so if you forget to add something that is larger in size, you can, as the whole door is available to be opened.

To find out more about this useful technology speak to one of our knowledgeable team on 01244 822144 who can help you find the perfect washing machine appliance for your family and lifestyle.

* Reload function cannot be used in conjunction with ActiveOxygen and sensoFresh programmes

Its back to school and the time of year when the washing machine is more important than ever.  There are all those muddy football and rugby kits to wash, soiled uniforms and the unrelenting stream of family laundry to contend with.  When the washing machine grinds to a halt so does family life.

At Butlers Rentals we’re finding more people are choosing to rent their washing machine, particularly those with young families.  A machine that is used every day can soon start to experience problems and this is where a rental washing machine can provide your family with the backup that it needs.

Reasons to Rent a Washing Machine:

Low up front-cost

No one can predict when your washing machine is going to breakdown and many families can benefit from choosing a rental appliance at a low monthly rental.  This avoids a large outlay to buy a washing machine and avoids the need to take out unnecessary credit.

Free, Reliable Repair Service

If something goes wrong, you are often faced with a hefty repair bill.  By renting this worry is taken away as at Butler Rentals servicing is free.  We don’t even charge a call out fee – even if your rental product is not faulty. Unlimited routine servicing including all parts and labour is included so you have nothing more to pay.

Free Breakdown and Replacement Cover

If we are unable to repair your rental item in your home, we will leave you with a loan product. If your repair is likely to take a long time, we will simply replace it for you with a like-for-like product. It’s all part of our rental service.

Speedy Response

If you call us before 10am Monday to Friday, one of our engineers will be with you the very same day so you’ll be up and running before you know it.

Freedom to Upgrade

Our minimum hire period is only 18 months so you are free to regularly upgrade to the latest technology.

At Butlers Rentals you are covered by free lifetime servicing for your washing machine when you rent your appliance from us.  However, there are ways you can limit call outs and ensure you have beautifully clean laundry if you follow our simple guidelines:

Monthly Maintenance Wash

On a monthly basis run an empty wash cycle at the highest temperature setting.  This particularly helpful if the machine is used a few times a week on 30° and 40° washing cycles.

Don’t Overload the Drum

In addition to adding unnecessary stress to your machine, an overloaded drum will prevent good cleaning results.  If the clothes can’t move freely in the washing machine your washing will not come out as clean as you would like.  Check the load recommendations for quick wash cycles too – often these work best on lighter loads.

Watch Your Detergent

Make sure you are using the right amount of washing detergent to get the best results.

Take Heed of Care Labels

Washing labels are there for a reason and should be followed.  There are some washing machines that have hand-wash cycle for delicate garments.  Ask our team for details.

Steady Your Machine

Make sure the washing machine is standing level.  Most machines move a little during the spin cycle so use the adjustable legs to keep it steady and stable.

Door Maintenance

Keep the door seal clean and remove any residue with a cloth.  Never slam the door as this could break the door latch.
