Stainless steel appliances look sleek and sophisticated fresh from the showroom but the everyday grime of life can take the shine off your new rental appliance.  Whether its sticky fingerprints or the remnants of your latest culinary creation you need to know how to get your appliance looking its best.  Always check your information booklet as stainless steel comes in different grades and forms.  Here are some general tips for getting the shine back:

Gentle Cleaning

When choosing a cloth to clean your appliance use something gentle and soft such as a microfibre cloth.  Never use steel wool or abrasive scrubbing sponges.  A soft microfibre cloth will soak up all the water and ensure you don’t scratch your appliance.

Clean Towards the Grain

In the same way you would go with the grain on a wooden piece of furniture, you’ll need to clean in the direction of the steel grain.  Going against the grain highlights any marks and it’s easier to scratch your appliance.

Water, Water

Unless the appliance is extremely soiled water can be the best option.  Warm water and a soft cloth can work wonders.  Simply dry off the surface with kitchen towel or a microfibre cloth for a perfect shine.

Other Cleaning Solutions

If water fails, there are a range of cheaper options to go for.  Vinegar is a fantastic cleaning product either mixed with water or undiluted.  Washing up liquid can also be a great option and often removes even the most tenacious of stains.

If you have a stainless steel sink, then try some baking soda.  Sprinkle two teaspoons around the sink and using a damp cloth rub the dry baking soda in.  spray vinegar over the top and leave to work its magic for 10 minutes or so.

With care and attention, you can have a stunning stainless steel appliance that is the envy of all your friends and family.  For news on our latest deals at Butlers Rentals visit our store or contact us on 01244 822144.
